3-week Running Club for kids ages 2 to 14. There will be an emphasis on personal improvement, not competition against each other. The word we will focus on this season is DETERMINED! This will be a series of races where we will keep track of finish order for younger kids and times for older kids. Kids can race up in their age group but not race down. Recommended distances:
50m Dash - PreK ages 2-3
100m Dash - PreK ages 4-5
400m (.25 mi) - Kindergarten-1st grade (ages 5-7)
800m (.50 mi) - 2nd-3rd grade (ages 7-9)
1600m (1 mile) - 4th-8th grade (ages 9+)
In our inaugural season in Spring 2024, we were COURAGEOUS. In fall of 2024, we were FOCUSED! Our running series will intentionally and explicitly teach mindfulness and vocabulary associated with the many mental parts of running. We teach kids that running is HARD but we can do hard things. We focus on individual growth each week and not competition or points. We want to show kids and their parents that running is a lifetime sport for all and emphasize the mental health and physical health benefits. We are an inclusive program and allow parents to run alongside their kids if needed. We also encourage parents to join in on the mile every week!
